Day 36: self isolation/covid 19/2020. The old garden table. Found in the second story of former barn converted to a garage at our first house years ago. Greg Stidham and I cleaned it and reinforced the aging frame. Hand crafted with mortise and tenon joints and holding a very heavy cast iron sink this old weathered table has followed us in all of our moves, often almost falling apart we were determined to bring it with us. Today we cleaned up the perfect spot for it under the ancient walnut tree. Once again we held it together and reinforced some of the split pieces of wood. As the afternoon slipped into evening we stepped back and watched the light flicker over the worn wood and I realized how happy this old table makes me feel. It’s really not so bad sometimes during our pandemic days.
