Thousands of people gathered at Southside Park in Sacramento, California to participate in the Women's March on Sacramento on January 21, 2017.  The Women's March on Sacramento, a "sister" march to the National Women's March on Washington, D.C. began at Southside Park and marched through the city of Sacramento to the California State Capitol Building.  The march, one of hundreds around the world, was in solidarity for the protection of human rights in response to the rhetoric of the 2016 presidential election cycle which witnessed the election of Donald Trump to be the 45th president of the United States.
