Day 26: self isolation/covid 19/2020. Imperfect produce. Imperfections that make something less desirable and yet they are still valuable. My bowl of pears with their little bruises, odd shapes, and so perfectly ripe they scent the room. From this bowl of imperfect fruit I made a rustic whole wheat cake and a batch of pear syrup. The cake was perfect for afternoon coffee and the syrup will add flavor to many dishes. A state of imperfection that gives new substance and nourishment. Pandemic life seems so at odds with our normal, regular, perfect life and yet it makes perfect sense in a now imperfect world.
